Nautical Humor II

DolphinsLooking at my nautical wall art reminded me of a day I was going fishing out of Ft. Pierce, Fl. The offshore forecast was for 3-5′ seas and normal Fl. summertime 20% to 30% chance of rain. A little sloppy for my 26′ boat but fishable.

As I went through the inlet I got slammed. One wave went over the top and knocked down my soft top. But I was commited at that point so out I went. Outside was also sloppier than predicted but manageable. I puttered around untill the tide changed and then ran back in to repair my top. Three valuable lessons were driven home that day:

1- The marine forecast covers 50 or more miles of coastline

and conditions at any given spot can vary.

2- Check the tide table before committing to an inlet.

3- You can install a new hard top in 4 hours or less when

properly motivated.
